Work safely with lead-painted surfaces in the painting industry

This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely treat lead paint hazards. The unit includes hazard identification, preparation of the work area, removal of contaminated material, encapsulation of contaminated material and completion of clean-up activities. A person who has achieved this unit of competency would be expected to take responsibility for organising and completing these tasks with a high degree of self-direction.
