This course describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and comply with legal and risk management requirements of the business or new business venture, including negotiating, creating and planning for legal contracts used within the business, where required.

This course is a requirement to obtain a QBCC Trade Contractors, Site Supervisor or Nominee Licence, or an ESO electrical contractor's licence.

The course applies to those establishing a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation.

This managerial course is a mandatory requirement set by QBCC for those applying for a Trade Contractor or Nominee Supervisor licence. Commonly known as the QBCC Managerial Course, it is tailored to help you understand the legal and regulatory obligations that small businesses must adhere to, including contracts, insurance, intellectual property, and workplace health and safety. By completing this course, you'll acquire the essential knowledge and skills to develop effective legal and risk management strategies for your business.

Our online course provides the flexibility to study at your own pace, anytime and anywhere. You can access the course materials on any device, making it easy to integrate your studies with your work and personal life.

Course Delivery and Duration

You’ll have up to 6 months from your enrollment date to complete the course.

Course Funding

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) helps cover the cost of this training to support employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry​. If you qualify for CSQ funding, this course will only cost $40, with CSQ contributing $360 towards the total course cost. Your eligibility must be confirmed, per CSQ requirements, before starting the course. Unit/s and Certification

In total, you will complete the 1 nationally recognised unit of competency, BSBESB402. Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course, we will require

  1. A clear copy of your drivers licence or photo identification.
  2. Students must be at least 15 years of age to enrol

To proceed with this course students will require:

  • Sufficient level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN);
  • Our courses can be accessed on any device with an internet connection, making it accessible to anyone with basic computer skills.
  • USI - It is a condition of enrolment in any nationally recognised training (accredited) programme that you supply the registered training organisation with a valid unique student identifier (USI).  If you don’t already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au. 


Support and Assessments

Our online course material is specifically tailored to provide the knowledge and skills required to complete this course. You will be required to complete an online practical assessment. Your Trainer Assessor will be assigned to you upon enrolment and are available to assist you as required, throughout your course.
